Hoddles Creek Chardonnay
Wine
Mac Forbes Hoddles Creek Chardonnay is sourced from the estate's highest vineyard in the Upper Yarra Valley, situated at an altitude of 270 metres.
It is the only Mac Forbes vineyard planted on volcanic red soils, which hold more water and allow the site to be grown without irrigation. In turn it produces grapes with more fruit weight.
The fruit is destemmed, crushed and pressed. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeast. Following nine months ageing in seasoned oak barrels, the wine is sterile filtered, bottled and cellared briefly prior to release.
Pale straw green, Mac Forbes Hoddles Creek Chardonnay balances fruit flavours and driving acidity, finishing long with a lick of oak. Cellaring potential is five years.
